A laptop to carry on your back

If you are looking for a thin and light laptop For your day-to-day work, PCSpecialist has an ideal option in its catalog. A 14-inch laptop from its Lafité range that has a design adapted to the portabilitywith a compact size and light weight that is appreciated when you carry it all day. Despite the good results in our review, we wanted to thoroughly test this PCSpecialist Lafité 14″ AI AMD We already told you that it has left us with a very good taste in our mouths.

During the Review this PCSpecialista 14” Lafité AI AMD laptop has earned the recommended product seal. A seal that has been hard-earned for its configuration, and that we can corroborate after being with it in our daily lives for several months.

To offer golden proof, the laptop has traveled with me to several destinations, where I have had to carry it on my back during long work days. Its size and weight highlight one of its strong points if you want to carry this laptop with you, with a approximate weight of 1.2 kilos and dimensions for this smallest model of 22 x 31 cm, with a thickness of 2.34 cm in its thickest part.

His battery is another positive point for this model, with a duration that can be extended up to more than 17 hours of operation. A duration more than enough to spend the entire day without having to look for an outlet to recharge its battery. During tests carried out in our laboratory, the battery life has risen to 10 hours with balanced power settings and screen brightness at 100%.

A duration that I can attest to, and that can even be extended in scenarios where you do not need all the brightness of the screen. By adjusting the brightness and performance level, along with some extra settings, you can reach these 16 or 17 hours of operation that PCSpecialist refers to us.

But let’s get to the point and look at its configuration in more detail.

Configuration of the PCSpecialist Lafité 14” AI AMD

As we have said, the laptop has a size of 14” to offer overall a contained weight. But first, let’s look at its main hardware configuration that we have chosen to make this laptop a versatile device for day-to-day work and even for personal leisure.

Inside we find a AMD Ryzen 7 AI 350 processora very capable processor with 8 coresdivided into 4 Zen 5 and another 4 Zen 5c. These offer a total of 16 execution threads and they have a base speed of 2 GHz, which can increase up to 5 GHz in turbo mode. A powerful processor that has shown me to be capable of offering great performance in the tasks necessary in my daily life, and on some occasions also for some not very demanding games.

It is accompanied by 16GB DDR5 RAM with a speed of 5,600 MT/s, a perfect balance for managing Windows and several open programs simultaneously. I also have to say that this 16 GB seems to me to be a minimum configuration to avoid running into outages due to lack of RAM when we require our laptop to work smoothly by switching between several applications.

His SSD included is 512 GBwith a speed of up to 3,500 MB/s reading and 3,100 MB/s writing. Although it could be improved with a PCIe 4.0, it is not essential if you are not constantly copying data. The capacity can also be expanded if necessary, although in my case this half-tera disk is enough for me.

The screen It is just the right size to be portable without being too small, the 14 inches are great in all aspects. Its matte coating keeps reflections behind, and its brightness is sufficient for most scenarios. has a 2.8K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rateit can also reproduce 100% sRGB.

To connect your accessories and peripherals, the laptop is also well equipped. It has a USB4 type C connector and another 3.2 also of type C, which are accompanied by 3 of type A. It also has physical network connectorwith a folding system to maintain a smaller profile. On the back, next to the RJ45 connector and one of the USB-C, we find the dedicated video output HDMI 2.1.

The battery is another of the strong points of this Lafité from PCSpecialist, with a 99 Wh capacity enough to be able to travel by plane, while extending its duration to more than a full day. The charger is 100 W with USB-C connection, but here we do not find a compact charger that would have been a plus.

It has enough speakers for a laptop, although you can connect wired headphones to its dedicated 3.5 mm jack connector. It also has a camera for your video callsand it is compatible with Windows Hello for facial recognition and secure startup. The camera has a physical shutter that blocks the view with the flick of a tab.

Other details are complemented such as a backlit keyboarda generous trackpad, a card reader and good feet that elevate the laptop to maintain adequate cooling.

As expected, this configuration can be expanded, which will increase its price accordingly. This also offers a flexible configuration for users who demand other types of configurations that may include more RAM, storage or a more powerful processor.

Day-to-day performance

As we already mentioned, the impression with this PCSpecialist Lafité 14″ AI AMD laptop has been excellent. The chosen configuration is balanced so that performance with basic applications is superior, but with an extra if you need more power on some occasions.

It also offers enough available ports to work at home with an extra monitor, keyboard, and mouse. He AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 with integrated graphics Radeon 860M It will be able to output video up to 8K resolution at 60 Hz, and 4K at 240 Hz, enough for any monitor we have at home.

If you use AI tools that are capable of taking advantage of Integrated NPUwhich includes this laptop offers up to 50 TOPSwhich increases to 66 TOPS if we use its GPU and CPU in conjunction with the NPU.

The tools that I use daily are not very demanding, since all I need is a web browser, a text editor, photography software that I use on some occasions and little else. But after work I also like some leisure time, and this laptop is also perfectly fine.

To work, this device can perfectly handle Word open, a PDF reader, the Chrome browser with several tabs and its well-known large consumption of RAM, email with Outlook and some messaging applications. You can continue opening apps without looking to see if performance will decrease, since it is perfectly valid for this and more.

Additionally, you can also photoshopTeams, Bambú Studio for my 3D prints and the typical applications and utilities that you need from time to time such as 7-Zip, PowerToys or those that the manufacturers of the different peripherals sometimes force you to install.

In this aspect we can say that the laptop more than complies, offering a excellent performance both on battery and connected to the mains.

But we have also dedicated this laptop, in some moments, to leisure. This includes games and multimedia playbackwhich is always desired after a hard day of work.

On occasions I have also used this laptop to program with Eclipse, nothing professional, but it moves easily and works correctly. This also includes AI help with programming, switching between different windows, fixing errors and compiling the final result.

The strong test is the games, it is clear that we cannot run Cyberpunk 2077 with the native resolution and a good FPS rate, but we have been able to play other less demanding games with a good FPS rate.

I have mainly used this laptop to play games. minecraftwith a very surprising result and fluid gameplay even without connecting to the power adapter. Something that was difficult for us with the integrated GPU of the other laptop that we had the opportunity to test. The game performs even in windowed mode at more than 40 FPS with a medium-high quality and native resolution. This figure can be increased if we lower the quality a little and reduce the resolution to FullHD.

I have also played Tomb Raider Trilogy remasteredand a somewhat more demanding game like Fortnitealthough configurable to adapt to almost any equipment.

In the latter we have been able to play with a more than acceptable rate of 90FPSwith medium-low graphics settings. Of course, keeping the equipment plugged into the power and lowering the resolution to 1920×1200 points.

In the multimedia section it has no problem, it plays any video and/or audio file from the browser or through dedicated software such as VLC.

Conclusions

If you are looking for a powerful and light laptop this PCSpecialist 14 Inch Lafité It is an ideal solution. A powerful laptop, with options to expand its capacity with more capable processors, and flexible in terms of configuration where you can add more RAM and storage to taste.

In everyday work, this laptop is an effective tool where it will not leave you hanging, even for its power or battery. It is in games where it can fall somewhat short if we come across a more demanding title.

As a negative point we will refer to its keyboardwhere quality and comfort do not seem to be their strong point. Nothing that can’t be fixed with an external keyboard adapted to resist millions of keystrokes when used as a desktop computer connected to a larger monitor.
