The AI crisis sets the gaming market back: 16 GB is once again the norm and the RTX 3060 displaces the RTX 5070 as the most used GPU
The crisis caused by AI fever has brought an exorbitant price increase to components such as RAM and, by extension, any component that includes it, such as graphics cards. This makes users find it increasingly difficult to renew their gaming equipment or purchase new ones.
In the latest reviews that we have made of desktops with more or less reasonable prices today, we have already seen that there is a clear decrease in performance compared to what we could buy not long ago with 1,000-1,500 euros, and the trend is clear.
The RTX 3060 is now the most used GPU on Steam, and 16 GB is again the most common.
A simple way to look at this is to look at hardware survey data from Steam, the leading PC gaming platform. In the latest results it can be seen that 16 GB is once again the majority amount of RAM for users, displacing the 32 GB that had risen to first position in the latest surveys.
The NVIDIA RTX 3060, a graphics card from a few years and generations ago, is now the most used GPU, relegating the RTX 5070, which held first place in September.
Other interesting data are the usage rate of Windows 11, which already reaches 72.51% on Steam, or the FullHD resolution, which continues to be the most used on Steam, specifically by more than half of the users.
