The Intel Nova Lake will not work at more than 5.1 GHz if they raise their temperature above 90º
Intel is pending the launch of the new series of processors Intel Core Ultra 4000also known as the Nova Lake. Some processors that will arrive during 2026, but that will not be available until next year. As its launch approaches, new rumors appear about its features, such as a fixed clock speed limitation based on maximum temperature reached. A measure that can avoid thermal throttling that occurs at high temperatures.
Intel Nova Lake will limit its frequency to 5.1 GHz when it reaches 90 ºC
According to what the well-known Jaykhin tells us on his X/Twitter account, the Intel Nova Lake will have a limitation on its clock frequency of 5.1 GHzas long as the temperature is 90º or higher. It has also specified that this restriction applies to the entire range of Intel Nova Lake processors for desktop computers. A limitation that is added to the 100 ºC of the TJMax, and that will not be adjustable by the user nor can it be eliminated.
A new thermal limitation that will affect the fastest models
Thus, models that operate above 5.1 GHz, if any, will not exceed this speed when they raise their temperature near the TJMax. While models whose turbo frequency does not reach these 5.1 GHz directly will not be affected by this new Intel security measure. A system that ensures better cooling for the CPU, since users and PC manufacturers that use Nova Lake must ensure that the CPUs do not exceed 90º in any case to avoid falling into this thermal limitation.
