The Ryzen 5 7500X3D appears by surprise: AMD prepares a new 6-core X3D chip for the economic range
It seems that AMD is not done with its Zen 4 architecture yet, despite the new Zen 5 processors projected by the brand. When many users are already looking towards new generations, the existence of a new processor has been leaked: the Ryzen 5 7500X3D. This chip has been spotted on a UK distributor’s listing, suggesting that the company plans to further expand its popular line of CPUs with 3D V-Cache technology, this time focusing on the entry-level range.
The discovery was made on the website of the British distributor West Coast. The product page, although short on details, shows the model name and a specific product code (100-000001904), confirming that this is a new SKU and not a bug. This 7500X3D would be positioned as the little brother of the Ryzen 5 7600X3Da processor that was initially launched exclusively in some stores in the United States and later saw its distribution expanded to other regions.
What can we expect from this new X3D chip?
Although the distributor’s page does not include technical specifications, specialized publications mention that the Ryzen 5 7500X3D is expected to maintain the configuration of 6 cores and 12 threads processing. Its main attraction would, of course, be the inclusion of 3D V-Cache technology, which stacks additional cache memory on top of the processor. It is expected to have a total of 96 MB L3 cache (32 MB standard plus 64 MB stacked), a feature that significantly improves gaming performance.
To differentiate it from the 7600X3D and keep it in a lower price segment, it is very likely that this new Ryzen 5 7500X3D will arrive with lower clock frequencies. Aside from that reduction in speed, the rest of the Zen 4 architecture should remain identical, offering a very attractive option for gamers on tight budgets who don’t want to give up the performance advantage that stacked cache provides.
The appearance of this processor is interesting, given that AMD already has a wide catalog of affordable Zen 4 chips, such as the Ryzen 5 7500F or the recent Ryzen 5 8400F. However, the 7500X3D would become the more affordable X3D processor to date. The Ryzen 7000 family already has four X3D models (7800X3D, 7900X3D, 7950X3D and 7600X3D), this being the fifth member of the series.
It is not yet clear whether the Ryzen 5 7500X3D will have an immediate global launch or will follow a limited availability strategy, as was initially the case with the 7600X3D. It is speculated that AMD could take advantage of the next CES to officially present this chip, perhaps along with the expected X3D models of the new Ryzen 9000 series, such as the Ryzen 7 9850X3D and the Ryzen 9 9950X3D.
