The Samsung Galaxy Z Wide Fold will have a wider folding screen in 4:3 format
Samsung is working on three new folding devices for this year: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and a new model known, at least for now and provisionally, as Galaxy Z Wide Fold.
This terminal would have a considerably wider screen, as seen in the latest leaks of the South Korean company’s Android One UI 9 layer, where a reference to the SM-F971B model appears.
In these documents, the screen of the Galaxy Z Wide Fold will abandon the almost square format of the previous Galaxy Z Fold 7, which has a ratio of 1.11:1, to adopt a 4:3 format. This change means a noticeably wider screen area, bringing its design closer to that of other experimental devices such as the rumored Galaxy Z TriFold. This new format seeks to improve the practical experience in playing multimedia content and photography, positioning itself as a direct competitor to the expected foldable iPhone that Apple would launch later this year.
Samsung’s new foldables will debut in July with Android 17 and wrinkle-free panels
The complete series, consisting of the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Wide Fold, would officially arrive in July 2026 running Android 17 under the One UI 9.0 customization layer.
In addition to the changes in the screen dimensions of the Wide model, rumors suggest that both it and the Fold 8 will incorporate panels with a almost invisible fold technology to improve the screen viewing experience.
