Threads gives you the power to moderate your threads: this is how its new response approval filter works

After distancing itself from Instagram, Threads has announced the launch of two new tools designed to offer users a greater control over responses in their publications. The main goal of this update is to help keep conversations civil, respectful, and focused on the topic at hand. The platform thus seeks to tackle the disorder or even the toxicity that can be generated in publications with a lot of interaction, giving the creator the power to manage what is visible and what is not. Without a doubt, it is a way to continue fighting to surpass Elon Musk’s X.

A manual approval system

The most notable function is the approval of responses. Although it will require more work and attention from the user, this system allows you to individually review and select which responses will appear publicly in a thread before other users can see them.

The operation is simple: the user will see a list of pending answers and you can post them using the “approve” or “ignore” buttons for each comment. To speed up the process, especially if bot spam is detected or if all responses are appropriate, the tool also allows you to approve or ignore the entire pending list at once.

The second novelty is found in the Activity tab, which receives two new ways to filter the answers. Users will now be able to choose to only see responses from people they follow, or filter to only show responses that include a direct mention of their account.

These filtering options are designed especially for accounts with a large number of followers and a very active community, making it easier to follow conversations and allowing you to “focus on the discussions that interest you.”

These moderation tools are in addition to other functions that Threads has been incorporating recently. Among them are ghost publications, which are automatically archived after 24 hours, the expansion of publications to 10,000 characters, group chats and the global test of Communities, which are spaces dedicated to specific topics.
