Welcome home, Apple: the company confirms that on October 13 it will hold an event focused on home automation
Apple has finally confirmed that it will hold an event on October 13 under the motto Welcome home. As you can imagine, the company has not detailed what it will present, but the phrase points to the home, the segment to which the leaks in recent weeks referred.
In fact, the notes on possible devices come exclusively from these leaks and from the inside information that Mark Gurman usually publishes in Bloomberg, not from Apple itself.
Everything that would arrive at Apple’s Welcome Home event
According to Gurman himself, the protagonist would be the HomePad, a speaker with a 6-inch screen. It would arrive alongside a new HomePod mini, which has not changed since 2020, and an Apple TV 4K, whose latest version is from 2022. This supposed device would mount a square touch panel supported by a metal arm on a circular base, where the speakers and microphones would go.
This arm would allow the screen to be tilted, but there would also be a support to hang it from the wall. It would not have a battery, so it would always work plugged in. The first reports spoke of seven inches, a minimal difference.
Its interface would have a double panel, similar to that of iPad apps, for messages, music or photo frames. In addition, it would recognize each person by voice and face to personalize the content, act as an intercom between rooms, support FaceTime calls and control accessories compatible with Matter, which is the main standard in home automation. Added to all this is a subsequent leak that suggests that it would arrive in four colors, while the HomePod mini could come in five.
Apart from this, it seems that Apple and LG are preparing new devices for the home, among which we would see a video doorbell, two exterior cameras, a smart lock, a thermostat and a temperature sensor. The most curious thing is that they would all come with the LG brand instead of using the Apple one. For now, the only thing we can categorically affirm is that there is finally an Apple event on October 13 and that we will be here to cover it in full.
