Nothing will begin shipping its first device designed around AI in December
Nothing will start sending your first product conceived around artificial intelligence in December 2026. Carl Pei, CEO of the company, has advanced the deadline in a text titled Toolmakers, accompanied by an image that barely allows us to see a corner of the device.
Pei describes it as a tool and assures that it does not add a new screen. It also maintains that its functions required its own device and that they could not have been solved with an application. Nothing has yet to reveal the name or explain what exactly it will do.
An image that leaves the design almost hidden
The preview shows a dark surface and a rounded corner, with curved edges. The photograph is cropped and does not allow us to know the size of the product, its distribution of controls or how it will be used.
It also does not allow you to identify your category. Although Nothing has appeared in information about other AI devices, this announcement does not confirm that the December device corresponds to any of those projects.
Pei’s phrase on the screen is one of the few concrete details of the ad. By itself, it does not explain whether the product will need the mobile phone to display information, how it will be controlled or what connection it will have with other devices. The company has not published that data.
Pei focuses his proposal on work
The text places the product within Pei’s vision for the use of AI. The manager believes that work tools will play an important role in their adoption before new types of devices spread throughout homes.
It also suggests that today’s helpers lack some of the context they need to help a person. That approach explains the focus of the ad, but it still doesn’t describe a feature of the product.
The head of Nothing also defends the company’s ability to develop hardware and software within the same organization. It is your argument for how to approach the project; The advertisement does not yet include a demonstration that allows evaluating the operation of the device.
Nothing now connects its headphones with Essential Space
The company has a concrete history in the Ear (3). Its case incorporates Super Mic, a microphone that allows you to record voice notes for Essential Space to transcribe. That feature already links a physical accessory to Nothing’s organizing software.
The support documentation distinguishes the operation on brand mobile phones and on phones from other manufacturers. With Nothing OS and Essential Space installed, holding the TALK button on the case for more than half a second activates Essential Space and turns on a yellow light. On devices without Nothing OS, the same gesture activates the voice assistant and the light is green.
It is a compatibility difference that already exists in the company’s catalog. The announcement of the December device still does not clarify whether its functions will depend on a Nothing phone, if it will have an application for other brands or if it will be able to work independently.
First shipments scheduled for December
The communicated deadline refers to the start of shipments next month. A specific day has not been announced nor has it been detailed in which countries it will be initially available.
The price, autonomy and compatibility requirements are also pending. The December forecast does not confirm a simultaneous arrival in Spain nor does it allow us to know when orders will be opened.
