YouTube Premium Family increases to 29.99 euros per month in Spain starting in October
YouTube has begun to notify Spanish subscribers of the Premium Family plan of a new price increase. The monthly fee goes from 25.99 to 29.99 eurosaccording to the email that the company is sending these days to affected users. The change will be reflected in the October invoice.
The notice comes with the usual text that Google reuses in each upload of this type: the company assures that it does not make these decisions lightly, and that the adjustment allows it to continue improving Premium and supporting the platform’s creators and artists.
The Family plan continues to allow sharing the subscription with up to five household memberswith access to ad-free video, downloads, background play and YouTube Music included, with its catalog of more than 300 million tracks. Distributed among the six members that the group can have (the administrator plus five members), the monthly cost goes from just under 4.33 euros per person to a practically fair 5 euros.
It is not the first increase in the Family plan
The current price of 25.99 euros has been in effect since November 2024, when YouTube already applied a notable increase in Spain: the Family plan then went from 17.99 to 25.99 euros at once, a jump of 44%. With this new setting, The Family plan will have increased almost 12 euros per month in less than two years.
In between, YouTube also tightened the other end of the plan: In 2025 it began to more strictly verify that all members of a Family group reside at the same address as the administrator, something that until then many users skipped by sharing an account with friends or family who lived in another house. The combination of both measures leaves the Family plan more expensive and, at the same time, more difficult to distribute with those who do not live with you.
The move is also not a surprise if you look at what has happened in other markets this year.. In June, YouTube already raised prices in the United States: the individual plan went from $13.99 to $15.99 and the Family plan went from $22.99 to $26.99. Spain is now joining that same wave of adjustments, several months behind the US market.
What those affected can do
As always with these notices, YouTube allows you to cancel your subscription at any time before the new price is appliedand recommends checking the account status from Settings > Purchases and subscriptions. Anyone who just wants to get rid of ads without paying for YouTube Music can consider Premium Lite, which in Spain costs 7.99 euros per month, although with fewer functions: it does not include full background playback or eliminate advertising in all musical content.
Google has not published any public statement with this increase, something common in this type of changes: the only official confirmation is the email that subscribers themselves receive. The company does maintain the general policy that governs these increases documented in its Help Center, where it explains that the new price is charged starting with the first billing cycle that begins at least 30 days after the notice.
