AMD is made with ENSEMI, a company specialized in optical and phototic interconnection systems for AI servers
AMD has acquired ENSEMI, a company based in Silicon Valley dedicated to the development of communication systems based on optical technology and photonic solutions for implementation in next -generation artificial intelligence processing systems, that is, to interconnect servers with this technology.
Its developments are based on the use of light as a method of data transmission, thus replacing electricity into silicon -based systems. The use of phototonic systems achieves a transmission faster and efficient, allowing the development of connections with a bandwidth higher than that of traditional electricity -based solutions.
Both companies had previously collaborated, given the manufacture and distribution capacity of this type of circuit based on optical communication of ENSEMI.
With this acquisition, AMD expands its development capacity of new generation systems for artificial intelligence acceleration data centers. After the Xilinx acquisition, Thinking, ZT Systems and Silo AI, the company seeks to become a full -year -old solution supplier, with processors, GPUS/accelerators, servers systems, communications between them, etc.
With the rise of artificial intelligence, AMD’s latest acquisitions have gone, precisely, focused on positioning themselves in this competitive market.
