Google will eliminate its Fitbit Watches Assistant
Google has announced that your voice assistant “Google Assistant” will say goodbye to Fitbit smartwatches. It is not uncommon for a company to stop supporting some of its services in third -party products, but here is the situation that it is the Google itself that acquired Fitbit about 6 years ago.
Watches such as Fitbit Versa 2, Versa 3 and Versa 4, or the Fitbit Sense line with the first and second model, have a microphone and access to Google’s voice assistant, But soonover the next few weeks, Google will block access and leave its users without service. This has been confirmed from Fitbit itself.
Interestingly, the virtual competition assistant, much more widespread and with a greater catalog of compatible devices, can continue to be used in Google Fitbit watches. We refer to Alexa de Amazon.
Alexa will continue to be compatible with Fitbit watches in an integrated way in many countries, including ours.
It is not yet confirmed if Google will integrate Gemini in Fitbit devices to replace the current assistant. Google is in full campaign to try to use their artificial gemini intelligence assistant, both in smartphones and other devices, is replacing Google Assistant. However, tasks that were previously simple and direct, now they usually require many more steps or see how the assistant is not able to perform them, even in the brand’s own pixel terminals. It is expected that Gemini is improving, but it is still a step back for many users.
