Lenovo Project Swan transforms a 14-inch 4:3 screen into a 17-inch 16:9 screen
Lenovo has presented in Berlin the Project Swana ThinkBook laptop prototype whose screen is expanded horizontally. The equipment is part of the concepts shown during Lenovo Innovation World 2026, held to coincide with IFA 2026, and proposes a solution to transport a conventional-sized computer that can offer a much wider desktop when necessary.
The company expressly identifies it as a proof of concept. We have been able to see it both collected and completely open. Its interest is in the mechanism: the visible surface grows to the left and right, instead of gaining height like the previously marketed ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable.
A screen that comes out from both sides
Project Swan starts from the form of a ThinkBook and uses a flexible OLED panel. When it is collected, the 14 inches and 4:3 format They provide a relatively tall screen. When unfolded, two sections stored on the sides of the lid extend simultaneously until forming the 17-inch panel in 16:9 format.
The change alters both the size and proportions of the desktop. The compact mode makes better use of the height for reading and editing documents, while the extended format offers more width to distribute applications. The transformation maintains the base of the computer in the same position on the table.
The design requires modifying the structure of the cover. The hinge is short and is located in the central area to leave room for movement at the ends. At the rear you can also see the covers that house the rolled portion of the panel and the system responsible for keeping it deployed.
Lenovo’s third rollable approach

The company has already tried different directions to expand a flexible screen. He ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable was presented as a commercial product in 2025 and grows its OLED in vertical from 14 to 16.7 inches. The increase provides about 50% more surface area and is intended for documents, programming and windows placed on top of each other.
At CES 2026 the Legion Pro Rollable Conceptbased on a 16-inch gaming laptop. Its PureSight OLED panel opens horizontally using two motors and can reach 21.5 or 24 inches. Lenovo then explained that it used tension control and low-friction materials to keep the panel flat and limit abrasion during movement.
Project Swan translates that horizontal idea into a professional-looking rig and limits the extension to 17 inches, versus 24 inches for the Legion concept.
A prototype with very few closed specifications
The processor Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 places the prototype on the Lunar Lake platform, with CPU, integrated graphics and NPU in the same package. The exposed unit incorporates 32 GB of LPDDR5x memory at 8,533 MT/s and a 1 TB SSD in M.2 2242 format with PCIe 4.0 interface.
The prototype integrates a camera centered on the screen and maintains the keyboard, touch panel and finish typical of the ThinkBook range. The demo sheet does not specify the resolution, brightness or refresh rate of the panel. In a rollable device, important questions also remain about the consumption of the mechanism, the protection of the OLED when it is retracted, and the repair of moving parts.
Lenovo uses its proofs of concept to test formats and collect information before deciding whether they make it to the catalog. That process has already produced a commercial model with the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, but it does not mean that all prototypes will end up on sale. Project Swan currently lacks a price and calendar. The IFA 2026 demo confirms that the equipment works and has a complete configuration on Intel Lunar Lake; Its possible production remains unannounced.
