Samsung confirms its new foldable

Samsung has been hoarding rumors for months about a new Galaxy Z Fold model with a wider format, and now we have the first official confirmation. The first builds of One UI 9, the South Korean company’s next major operating system, have revealed a series of animations that clearly show the design of this foldable device.

Images taken from the One UI 9 code reveal a foldable phone with wider proportions than traditional Fold series models. Samsung has prepared both light and dark mode versions of these animations, confirming that the device is in an advanced stage of development.

A new model that could arrive this year

The connection with the Wide Fold model is supported by the codename H8which appears in the animation files and was previously associated with the model number SM-F971U. This digital trail connects directly to previous leaks about the existence of this wider device.

Although the animations do not show details such as the camera island, they do offer a clear perspective of the general size and shape of the phone. It is the first time that this device can be viewed through official Samsung material, something that until now had only been the subject of speculative renders. The presence of the Wide Fold in One UI 9 suggests that Samsung plans to launch it next to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 during the summer of 2026. This would coincide with the brand’s usual foldable presentation calendar, which usually takes place between July and August.

It seems that Samsung has plans to further diversify its foldable line, including its recent launch, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold. With this new wider format, the company seeks to offer alternatives within its catalog of folding devices, adapting to different preferences of users looking for screens with other proportions.

I am a computer systems technician, I started experimenting with a Pentium II, although my thing has always been software. Since I upgraded from Windows 95 to Windows 98 I have not stopped installing systems. I had my Linux era and I was one of those who asked for the free Canonical CD. I currently use macOS for work and have a Windows 11 laptop on which I have also installed Chrome OS Flex. In short, experiment, test and press buttons.
