This is the ThinkPad X13 Detachable that competes with the Surface Pro
Lenovo is preparing the return of its line of detachable tablets aimed at the professional market. According to an exclusive leak from Windows Latestthe ThinkPad X13 Detachable Gen 1 will return after two years of absence, presenting itself as a business alternative to the Surface Pro from Microsoft with a focus on overall robustness and durability.
The device, shown in Eclipse Black, is expected to be presented at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona between March 2 and 5 of this same year. Everyone knows that it is an event that many manufacturers take advantage of to show their new products. In this case, like the Surface Pro, it has a detachable magnetic keyboard and a kickstand-type rear support, but with distinctive features designed for corporate users who prioritize resistance over delicate aesthetics.
Larger screen and a keyboard with a peculiar design
One of the most striking new features is the change in screen size, which goes from 12.3 inches of the previous X12 model to 13 inches, justifying the new name. To accommodate this larger diagonal, Lenovo has reduced the bezels, although it maintains a greater thickness than other tablets to preserve the robustness characteristic of the ThinkPad line.

The keyboard has an unusual design, especially when compared to the Surface Pro: instead of being completely flathas an angular inclination. This configuration could be an attempt by Lenovo to solve the lap usability problem that affects tablets with rear stands, whose metal edge is uncomfortable when resting on the knees with shorts.
Lenovo’s digital pen is integrated into a recess in the keyboard, apparently lighter than the one that accompanied the ThinkPad X12 Gen 2. The keyboard connects magnetically using pogo pins, although it is not confirmed whether it includes Bluetooth for wireless use like the Surface Pro 13.

In terms of specifications, it is expected to incorporate Intel Panther Lake processors, which would improve autonomy compared to the previous model that featured an Intel Core Ultra 7 164U with vPro and a battery of only 42 Whr. The leaked images show an internal cooling fan and four screws on the base, indicating ease of repairsa traditional ThinkPad feature.

The device includes USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports on both sides for charging from either side, along with an audio jack, volume buttons, a security Kensington slot, and what appear to be speaker grills. It retains distinctive elements such as the TrackPoint and its associated buttons, as well as a circular fingerprint reader next to the trackpad and a mechanical privacy shutter for the front camera.
The leak has even revealed the estimated price. This will be around $2,000, similar to the previous model that is still sold at that rate. As we said at the beginning, it is expected that Lenovo confirm all the details officially at MWC from Barcelona. And we will be here to tell you.
