Nintendo Switch 2 reaches 26.35 million units sold as original Nintendo Switch closes in on PS2 sales

Nintendo Switch exceeds 157 million and is approaching PS2

The Japanese company has not only focused on its latest hardware launch, it has also included its first success in the updated sales figures, which has inspired this second version of the console. The Original Nintendo Switch continues to sell at a pace not as fast as its older sister, achieving 610,000 units during this last quarter, which brings the total figure up to 157.2 million units.

This makes it the Nintendo’s best-selling consolesurpassing the Nintendo DS by a scant 3,200,000 units, at least for now. It also comes dangerously close to PlayStation 2 crowned as the best-selling console in history with 160 million units, a figure increased by Sony mysteriously on the verge of Nintendo catching up. The fact is that the original Switch is now less than 2.8 million units away from reaching it, a challenge that Nintendo can surely overcome in the face of next Christmas and the subsequent sales campaign.

Nintendo needs to sell 10 million Switch 2s in six months

Estimates for Nintendo are 16.5 million consoles sold from last April until the last day of March 2027. So far the Japanese company has managed to sell 6.49 million Nintendo Switch 2, which would remain to be sold in the remaining 6 months 10.01 million consoles to meet the objective.
