The Xiaomi 17 Max arrives with an 8,000 mAh battery, 200 MP Leica cameras and a 6.9-inch screen
Xiaomi has closed its 2026 high-end range with a model that does exactly what its name promises. The Xiaomi 17 Max pushes the suffix to the limit in every relevant specification: bigger screen, bigger battery, more ambitious camera system. It is the phone that puts an end to the Xiaomi 17 series, one of the most complete generations that the Chinese company has launched in its recent history, and which already included the Xiaomi 17 Pro, the 17 Pro Max with secondary rear screen and the 17 Ultra with its Leica optical system and mechanical ring.
With the 17 Max, Xiaomi has opted for a different philosophy than the Ultra. The Ultra is committed to photography in its most extreme form; The Max prioritizes autonomy and screen size without giving up top-notch photographic capabilities. The result is a phone weighing 225 grams and 8.29 millimeters thick (striking numbers if you take into account what’s inside) that is now available for reservation in China.
A screen of almost 7 inches
The Xiaomi 17 Max panel has a diagonal of 6.9 inches with LTPO M10 OLED technology, resolution of 2,608 x 1,200 pixels (420 dpi) and variable refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz. The claimed maximum brightness is 3,500 nits, with support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HDR Vivid. Xiaomi describes its performance within its resolution category as “comparable to a 2K display”, which has to do with the implementation of the Super Pixel technology used by the M10 panel.
Front protection is provided by the third generation Dragon Crystala solution that Xiaomi claims multiplies the panel’s resistance to impacts and falls by 20. The screen supports DC dimming at full brightness by default, although the user can change the setting to PWM at 1,920 Hz. The edges are ultra-thin, with a minimalist profile central bezel that reinforces the almost bezel-less screen feel.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and active cooling
The processor is the Fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Eliteat up to 4.6 GHz, accompanied by the Adreno 840 GPU. The configuration of RAM memory ranges between 12 and 16 GB of type LPDDR5Xwith 256 or 512 GB internal storage in UFS 4.1 format. The operating system is Xiaomi HyperOS 3 on Android 16.
Given the profile of the device (large screen, huge battery, high-performance processor), thermal management is critical. Xiaomi has implemented a three-dimensional circular cold pump cooling system, Specifically designed to maintain stable temperatures during intensive use sessions. According to the company’s internal tests, the equipment is capable of maintaining demanding titles such as Genshin Impact at maximum image quality with a constant frame rate for 5.7 hours.

8,000 mAh: more than two days of autonomy
The most talked about part of the Xiaomi 17 Max is undoubtedly its battery. With 8,000 mAh based on silicon-carbon anode technology (with a silicon content of up to 16% and an energy density of 894 Wh/L), Xiaomi claims that the phone lasts more than two days of normal use. In continuous HD video playback tests, the device reached 33.3 hours. Xiaomi founder Lei Jun joked during the presentation that the technical team was exhausted before the phone when trying to complete the stress test.
Fast wired charging reaches 100 W with support for the PPS protocol. Wireless charging is available at 50W, and reverse wireless charging works at 10W. The fast charging chip is the Surge P3, complemented by the Surge G2 battery management chip.

Triple Leica system with 200 megapixels
The cameras of the Xiaomi 17 Max also bear the Leica signature. The main module incorporates a 200 megapixel sensorf/1.65 aperture, optical stabilization and a large 1/1.4″ sensor. Includes LOFIC ultra-dynamic range technology and multi-frame fusion calculation for maximum resolution mode. The periscopic telephoto lens has 50 megapixels with 3x optical zoom and f/2.4 aperture, with a 1/2″ sensor capable of taking macros from 15 cm. The Ultra wide angle completes the system with 50 megapixels and a viewing angle of 102 degrees.
The front camera is 50 megapixels with f/2.0 aperture. The system is IP66, IP68 and IP69 certified against dust and water, and the fingerprint reader is ultrasonic under the screen.
The Xiaomi 17 Max starts at 4,299 yuan in the 12 GB + 256 GB configuration, which equivalent to about 545 euros to change. The most equipped version, with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, costs 5,299 yuan (approximately 671 euros). For now, global availability has not been confirmed; Like the 17 Pro, it could stay in China initially.
