Steam tests a new feature to launch Ubisoft games without the need for the Ubisoft Connect client
Steam wants to become a universal gaming platformthis includes support for Linux operating systems of its gaming client and even its own operating system such as SteamOS. But the client is also receiving other new features to eliminate the dependency on other launchers in some games, as is the case of Ubisoft Connect. Steam is testing a new service in which it will dispense with the Ubisoft client to launch games, starting these tests with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

This test does not only include being able to run the games without having to open Ubisoft Connectbut also adds cross-play and will allow you to keep saved games, as well as rewards and other services without the need to have the Ubisoft client. Valve wants to offer a better user experience while expanding its ecosystem to more users.
Ubisoft Connect Services comes to Steam with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
At the moment only this game is available, while the new functionality Ubisoft Connect Services for Steam keep moving forward. If the tests are correct, more games available on Steam will soon be added without the need for the French video game company’s launcher.
At the moment there is no more information about it, nor when this function is expected to reach more Ubisoft games.
