Vega OS will not replace Android on all Fire TVs: this is how future Fire TV Sticks and the rest of the range will be distributed

The Fire TV range is going through a bit of a strange moment. Amazon has been pushing Vega OS for months as the future of its devices, but Android has not gone anywhere: it continues to play an active role in a large part of the catalog, and that coexistence has just left a fairly clear mark on the field of developers.

The interesting thing is that the email is not a generic notice. It includes a personalized list with the specific apps from that developer that need the update, which makes it clear that Amazon has already done the work of identifying, on a case-by-case basis, which applications would fail with the new system. That type of review is not improvised: it usually takes months of preparation before the hardware actually hits the market.

For now there is no trace of which specific models will release Fire OS 16, nor a presentation date. September sounds reasonable if you look at the calendar that Amazon has followed in recent years, although for now it is just that: an assumption based on the usual pattern.
